Giving Tuesday Bags for Veterans

Giving Tuesday Fundraiser to Benefit Active Duty Military and Veterans

For the third consecutive year, the National Headache Foundation (NHF) will be raising funds on Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1, to provide migraine survival toolkits to veterans and active-duty military. Each migraine survival toolkit consists of a canvas bag containing an eye mask, hot/cold pack, earplugs, pillbox, and an emergency information card. The NHF supports the men and women who have served our country by providing resources for better understanding headache, managing pain, and coping with neurological trauma effectively.

Approximately 20 percent of deployed service members are living with a traumatic brain injury (TBI), typically due to blast exposure. TBI has been especially prevalent among troops serving in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts of the past two decades. These types of brain injuries can lead to post-traumatic headache disorder, where headache and migraine can show up weeks or months after an injury and the debilitating symptoms can last for years. The National Headache Foundation believes it is vital to reach out to these men and women who have served our country by providing resources to better understand and manage their pain and to cope with neurological trauma effectively.
