The Wounded Warrior Project is a nonprofit which provides a range of services for severely injured service members, including sports programs for disabled vets, peer mentoring and Wounded Warrior Backpacks, which contain items like clothing, toiletries, calling cards, CD players and playing cards to help make stays at trauma centers more comfortable. WWP also advocates for wounded veterans and has produced a helpful Handbook for Injured Service Members and their Families in conjunction with the Fallen Heroes Fund. The purpose of the WWP is to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, to help severely injured service members aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of severely injured service members.
