I am sitting on my patio trying to enjoy the beautiful weather, but I can’t because I have a migraine. My head is killing me, I am dizzy and nauseous. I have in my lap a binder given to me by the National Headache Foundation (NHF) for my newly established Headache Education & Support group. I want to work on our next meeting, but I can’t because I have a headache. I feel like nobody really understands how it feels. Migraines make you feel so bad. It is not only the head pain; it is a lot of other things, too. I feel lucky that I have not been having too many headaches lately–I am averaging one a week. That is one bad one a week! That is the one that I have to take Imitrex for. I am still getting three or four headaches that I can treat with Excedrin. I usually wake up in the early hours of the morning with a headache. This doesn’t make sense to me. I can’t figure out what is triggers them. I don’t think I will ever know. But thanks to the Diamond Headache Clinic and the NHF, I have learned a lot about headaches.
That is one of the reasons I wanted to start a local headache education and support group, in order to share what I know with other headache sufferers, and also so that I too can get some support from people who really know what I go through.
