As I approached my 20’s about 5 years ago my migraines worsened and became chronic migraines. I was struggling to work because everything made my head hurt: lights, smells and sounds. At that time I found out I had a Chiari Malformation, which resulted in multiple brain surgeries. Following the six brain surgeries, I needed my skull fused to T3. My life changed forever.
My migraines were so severe following all of my surgeries and I felt like my body was attacking itself as a result of the pain. I went from doctor to doctor trying to find the perfect one to help me manage my chronic, daily, severe and debilitating migraines. I was brushed off as either too complex, or incurable. To hear the words “you will never be pain free” was disheartening.
I finally found an amazing neurologist in Pittsburgh, PA who is so compassionate about her work and getting her patients back to their daily lives. She has worked very diligently with me by providing Botox, weekly nerve block trigger point injections, infusions, the latest medications and most importantly her encouragement! I went from feeling hopeless to knowing there is light at the end of the tunnel.
