Hello,

My name is Maggie, I am 24years old and I’ve been living with hemiplegic migraines since I was 8.  4 out of 7 days a week  I would have headaches and for most of my life, people have told me I’m lazy, unreliable, or making it up for attention. In school, all my teachers would always say I was going to fail and all my friends thought I was flaky.

When I got older I’d get yelled at for not being able to work or having to go home because I couldn’t see it has a migraine and my boys would yell at me and tell me that’s no excuse to leave work and not show up. I was written up at multiple jobs because of my migraines. My coworkers would also make fun of me and call me a liar and flaky, and they’d laugh as if it were some kind of joke to them. The only people who really always believed me were my family. they always picked up the pieces and helped me see the brighter side of things and the hope that every day brought. They also helped me find the beauty that I couldn’t see in my broken self.
