My name is Isa and I’m 9 years old. I’ve had migraines for 2 years. I also get these things I call thunderbooms. They are sharp, stabbing pains in my head. During my headaches, I get other things that don’t feel good on me, like my stomach. I get so nauseous that I don’t want to eat. I also get things I call bellybooms. They are shape stabbing pains or hard pushing pains in my stomach. They’re like thunderbooms. I get dizzy too.
Sometimes I get angry because I don’t know why I’m feeling these things. Sometimes I get sad because I have to stay in the hospital.
It helps to have things to do to distract me from the pain in my head and belly. I like to put on one of my favorite shows, create art, spend time with friends or my dogs. It’s nice to have company. It puts me in a better mood when I’m not alone.
Sometimes it keeps me out of school a lot. I try to complete my homework, but I can’t always get it all done. It’s hard to concentrate when my head hurts a lot.
I hope I’ll get back to school soon, but right now I don’t know. It can get scary sometimes, but I can’t die from it. Maybe someone will find the right medicine to make my migraines go away.
