Migraine & Headache Awareness Month (MHAM)

Awareness & Advocacy

Every June, the community comes together to support those living with headache and migraine disease; and educate everyone about the significant impact of these disabling disorders.

Raising awareness and empowering advocacy about headache and migraine disease is critically important. Over 42 million in the U.S. have the quality of their lives impacted both personally and professionally. One in four U.S. households include someone living with migraine disease. Nine out of ten people with migraine reported they could not “function normally” during days in which a migraine strikes. Nearly 3 in 10 require bedrest.

Beyond June, and throughout the rest of 2024, National Headache Foundation will be  designing and launching numerous campaigns and events to keep the momentum going from everyone’s June, 2024 daily efforts.

National Headache Foundation is actively seeking proclamations to increase awareness

Awareness proclamations can be obtained for almost anything but tend to range on topics anywhere from culture to medical or mental health.  Proclamations can be requested at all levels of government – from city to county, from tribal to state, and even countrywide.

Proclamations are official announcements from government officials to bring the community’s attention to an important topic that a group of people want to bring awareness to and officially recognize, and combined with publicity on social media channels will elevate recognition and make a difference.
