I had a lot of food allergies as a child but my reaction then was skin hives.  Then when I was a young woman I started having frequent migraines.  I had health professionals who really tried to help me.  I tried Depo-Provera to control hormone-related headaches and I gained 10 pounds a year for 4 years on that.  Then I took beta-blockers every day which also slowed me down which equaled more weight gain.  Then I used Imitrex self-injections which helped the headache but were so overwhelming that I had to have 9-1-1 called once for the reaction.  I also tried seizure medicine which I hated.  I used other prescription drugs but the headaches became so common that I became suicidal.  I really felt my life was not worth living like that.

But I was still convinced that there must be a cause.  I just couldn’t accept that this was normal.

So I kept doing food avoidance and finally, finally, someone suggested wheat.  I had never tried eliminating wheat and it wasn’t easy but the “gluten-free” movement was just taking hold and it worked for me.  If I am careful I can be completely headache free.  I’m not saying that works for everyone but it worked for me.

My story of hope is to never stop looking for the cause of your headaches.  Don’t just treat them and live with them.  There is a reason and maybe you can find the cure for your situation.  I am 62 now and finally am free of pain after about 35 years of headaches.  My sister is 74 and she also is getting relief without wheat after about 40 years of pain and drugs.  I hope you all find relief.  I wish I could take it from you but don’t give up.

Sending love.
