My story is of a postural or orthostatic headache. This is the major symptom of a Cerebral Spinal Fluid Leak. After many tests, and two trips to the ER my neurologist was able to come to this diagnosis and expedite treatment. The headache from this issue is truly debilitating and the only relief is lying down. I think it’s important to shed some light on this particular type of headache as many people suffer from misdiagnoses and mistreatment before finally getting the proper care they need to treat this.

After pain, I sometimes experience what Oliver Sacks described as a post-migraine euphoria: an overwhelming sense of ease and contentment. My neighbor’s yard is filled with azaleas. Most of the year it is a tangled mess of shrubs but when it blooms, it’s gorgeous. My post-migraine euphoria feels like the azaleas in bloom. But is the euphoria worth the pain?
